The Gold Coast is full of natural wonders and hidden gems. Here are two of my favourite experiences that showcase the beauty and magic of the area.
1. Fireflies at Burleigh Head National Park
One of the most enchanting experiences is witnessing the fireflies at Burleigh Head National Park. During certain times of the year, usually in the warmer months, the park comes alive at dusk with the soft glow of fireflies. Walking through the rainforest paths as these tiny creatures light up the surroundings is truly magical. It’s a unique and serene experience that connects you with nature in a special way.

For the best experience, check local guides or contact the park for the optimal time to see the fireflies. Remember to respect the environment by staying on paths and not using bright lights that could disturb the fireflies.
2. Cougal Cascades Walk
Cougal Cascades is a fantastic spot for an easy walk suitable for all skill levels, located in the Currumbin Valley. The drive to get there is scenic and tranquil, setting the tone for a relaxing outing. The walking track meanders alongside Currumbin Creek and leads to beautiful waterfalls and rock pools. Along the way, you can also find the remnants of an old sawmill, adding a touch of history to your nature walk. It’s a perfect spot for a family day out or a peaceful retreat into nature.
