The Gold Coast has some truly special spots that are often overlooked, perfect for when you’re in the mood to explore something off the beaten path. Here are a few of my favourites!
1. Hidden Private Beaches – Road Between Sea World and The Spit
One of my favourite activities is exploring the hidden private beaches located along the road between Sea World and The Spit. Simply park anywhere along this stretch, and you’ll find narrow paths that cut through the bush, leading to secluded beaches. About ten of these exist, offering a perfect spot to unwind away from the crowds. Each beach feels like your own little slice of paradise.

2. Glow Worms
While it may be a bit touristy, visiting the glow worm caves is still a magical experience. These natural wonders illuminate the darkness with their soft, glow, creating a mesmerising sight. Several locations around the Gold Coast offer glow worm experiences, with Springbrook National Park being one of the most popular.

3. Tipplers
Tipplers is a hidden gem nestled on South Stradbroke Island. Accessible only by boat, it’s a fantastic spot for a day trip or an overnight adventure. Here, you can enjoy beautiful beaches, go for a swim, or have a meal at the Tipplers Café and Bar. It’s a favourite among locals looking for a peaceful escape.
