Local Guide – Isabella

The Gold Coast has so many hidden gems, whether you’re looking for a tranquil walk, an exciting surf spot, or a short day trip away. Here are some of my favourite places and things to do!

Burleigh Headland Walk

One of my favourite walks is the Burleigh Headland Walk, which wraps around Tallebudgera Creek and the ocean. The scenery is breathtaking; it feels like you’re in a rainforest while being so close to the action in Burleigh. It’s a must for anyone who wants to combine nature with a bit of coastal charm.

Currumbin Alley

Currumbin Alley is a surfer’s playground! It’s one of the best spots on the Gold Coast for surfing and caters to all abilities. Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, this spot is great for a day out on the waves.

Gorge Falls Walk

For a bit of adventure, head to Gorge Falls. This beautiful walk to a waterfall starts at the end of Tallebudgera Creek Road (entry via the Cream Track) and meanders along the creek for about a 5.6km return walk. It’s a serene and scenic experience that nature lovers will appreciate.

Currumbin Rock Pools

In the summer, the Currumbin Rock Pools are the perfect spot for a refreshing swim. Surrounded by lush greenery, these natural pools are great for a family outing or a relaxed day in nature.

Short Day Trip to Byron Bay

When we have time for a short day trip, we love heading to Byron Bay. Surfing and swimming at Wategos Beach are definite highlights, and the Lighthouse Walk is a must. The view from the lighthouse is simply spectacular and worth every step!
